Weer Singh Enlisted in the New Zealand Army in 1916It seems he did not embark for overseas duty so may not be an Anzac.
Weer Singh was born on the 1st of April 1872 in Punjab, Indian. He had served in the British Army Forces in China before migrating to Pipiriki New Zealand where he worked for Mr. Duffy. He was working as a Labourer when he enlisted as a Private in the 14th Reinforcements, F Company of the New Zealand Army on the 7th of March 1916 at Trentham. He stated on his enlistment papers that he was a Hindu. Weer was was five foot nine inches tall. He recorded his next of kin as his brother P.H. Singh who lived at New Plymouth. He was not given a service number and it appears that Weer did not embark for service overseas and was discharged from the army on the 6th of June 1916[1]
