This book examines the life and times of Siva Singh, a hawker who lived in the Benalla District between 1897 to 1955. this was a period of great change in Victoria. These changes moved from European Social Darwinism to present day Multiculturalism; it also chronicles the move from the horse and buggy era to motorisation. But more importantly, this book discusses the importation of the first Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji into Australia and also the first known reading of the Akhand Path and the establishment of the first gurudwara in austrlia, dated from 1920 to 1943. It also examines the rise and fall of Indians in the Benalla District all of this is reflected in the story of Siva and his time in Benalla.
